Soon after the burning of Lord Chelsted, King's Landing was informed of the death of Rhaegar at the hands of Lord Robert Baratheon during the Battle of the Trident. Aerys evacuated Queen Rhaella, who was as yet unaware of her pregnancy,Prince Viserys and the Princess Vaella to Dragonstone along with the Red Keep's master-at-arms, Ser Willem Darry.
before the kings death, he made sure to hide Elia and her children, potentially sending them to dorne where they remained protected and hidden. This is just a rumor.
With the death of King Aerys and the suspected death of Rhaegars family, Rhaella crowned Viserys kind of the seven kingdoms, although the great houses recognized Robert Baratheon as the new lord of the seven kingdoms.

The First Dragon Queen
The second daughter of King Viserys β Targaryen and Queen Aemma Targaryen, Princess Daella β ‘ Targaryen, was born just four years before the tragic death of her mother. Daella was known as the people's true Princess, and it was no secret that she was the apple of the Kings and Queens eye. After she was born her father did not wish for a son as much, he was content, but he understood his duty to the realm as king. As she grew the tales of her beauty, grace, and kindness were told all throughout the seven kingdoms. Her gentle nature was renowned, but as was her fierceness when it came to defending her family. Daella was never denied anything from her parents or her Uncle Daemon. Daella is often seen with her father, the King, she was his shadow. She sat on his lap during small council meetings and when he held court. Even Otto Hightower was fond of the young girl, even though he wasn't fond of Princess Rhaenyra. The whole of the Seven Kingdoms adored the young targaryen, sparking a jealousy in the heart of Rhaenyra that never quite dies. Daella is meant to be the First Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, and she is the one that the men of the realm would willingly bow down to. The Dance never should have happened but jealousy is an ugly beast that is hard to kill.

Rhaegar is wild and mostly doesn't think about his actions. Therefore, many believe he will bring more harm to the realms than good. He's 16, and his father still hasn't named him Prince of Dragon Stone. Rhaegar has claimed one of the biggest dragons to live right now, son of Meraxes and Balerion, and almost 120 years old. Diaval was never claimed. Some tried, and they all died. All until a little 7 year old boy walked into his den and came out laughing, sitting on top of the large dragon.Complete

The heart of a Targaryen was said to be one dipped in fire and blood. They ruled the skies with their dragons, danced through the flames of death and controlled the direction of the wind. All from an Iron throne. Rhaella Targaryen was the youngest daughter of King Viserys and Queen consort Alicent Hightower. She was cunning and calculating, knowing how to slither her way out of the situations she often found herself in. Visions and prophecies were both a curse and a blessing for the princess, and when the dragons began to dance she used them as motive for every action and sin she committed. With the help of Ser Arthur Dayne, Robert Baratheon falls dead in the Trident and the rebellion ends. Following the death of Queen Rhaenyra's sons, sired by Laenor Velaryon, and the presumed death of Prince Daemon, Rhaenyra made the choice to keep her youngest children, Aegon, Visenya and Viserys, from suffering the same fate as their Velaryon brothers. Having sold her crown, the fallen Queen secured passage on a ship to Pentos in 131 AC but was intercepted by a group of Myrish pirates. While Rhaenyra's remaining Queensguard managed to hold them off, Aegon the Younger was taken captive and handed over to Aegon II. Throughout the years that followed, Rhaenyra failed on multiple occasions to retrieve her son, and any form of negotiation was struck down by Aegon and Alicent. All but one remained on the table; Aegon would spare his nephew's life in exchange for Princess Visenya's hand in marriage.
