Cassidy Hayes, an eighteen year old girl, carries the burden of providing for her family once she graduates from highschool. Once graduated, each student receives an envelope laying out their job chosen to be in as time goes by. When Cassidy opens her envelope her life wasn't going to amount into anything. Refusing to tell her mother of what had happened, she urges herself to write her name in a drawing of "a lifetime." Unsure about what it may bring to her when chosen, she begins to understand her society and how it runs while still remaining herself even though it may cost her in the eyes of the society.
