"If you do not cooperate, your situation will worsen. So I ask you to listen to what I have to say before making any rash decisions."

I stare at my handcuffs for a few seconds and the red marks that have formed on my wrists. I fight another wave of nausea that threatens to surface.

"I don't really have a choice in that matter; I can't even leave this table."

 I take a deep breath and turn my head around to look at the mirrors. I have circles under my eyes, my hair is a mess, and my clothes are stained.

"I already missed my math exam, didn't I?" I grumble.

She ignores my disappointing attempt at humor. "Amira, you always have a choice. Even if that choice is merely to hear or listen. I intend to give you a choice in this matter, because frankly, I cannot make you cooperate. But if you make the wrong decision, the consequences will be apparent for yourself and others."
