Wayfield was a generally quiet town, nothing interesting ever happened in it and if something did, it never reached the ears of those outside of it. The people there kept to themselves, never really mingling with outsiders or travelling outside of town for that matter. 

But when a boy is found dead in his own bedroom, murdered in a way that can only be described as "animalistic", the people start to wonder if this "quiet" town, actually harbours a dark secret. 

Witnessing the animalistic crime scene the murderer left, a young girl finds herself plagued by nightmares, which seem to be guiding her to unravel the town's dark mystery, but she can't help but wonder if she is secretly being led to her death. 

A cannibal, a white cat with eyes on its front paws and a certain hunger for the unknown lead her to dangerous situations that may cost her the lives of those she holds dear.All Rights Reserved

-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future.
