Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

Nuclear Fallout has finally come down on man. Those in the cities and towns, assuming they survived, had been brought to bunkers that housed several hundred people each. But those in the most rural areas weren't as lucky. Each day that passed, they continued to here empty promises through the radio of safety as they lost both their sanities and supplies.

For a girl, no older than 12, this was even clearer. Alyssa's parents became her enemy. She continues to be stuck between a rock and a dead end. Will she make it through the nuclear apocalypse alive and to safety, or will she become another forgotten soul?

Do be aware that there are dark themes such as cannibalism in this story. I don't intend to be too explicit with the details, but the ideas are there.
