gabriella barnes' life wasn't always perfectly pretty. after her brother was taken during the war, so was the she.

she was one of the first victims of 'the winter soldier project'. a project that brainwashed innocent people and injected them with arnim zola's own version of the super soldier serum.

after HYDRA believed the serum had worked, the training began. but gabriella didn't give in. she pretended to be weak and frail. she pretended it hadn't worked.

and so they gave up. she was discarded, like a piece of meat discarded to the wolves. left in a cell to rot. but she got out.

and although she got out, she was taken once again. the red room. not long after HYDRA discarded of her, she was taken once again. this time by the red room.

years passed and they believed she was ready for the ceremony. but she had other plans. escaping wasn't easy, but the serum that coursed through her veins gave her an advantage.

that's when shield came around. finding howard stark and peggy carter was not something ella had expected to happen.

and yet there they were, the three of them on the front of the paper, under the headline "STRATEGIC HOMELAND INTERVENTION, ENFORCEMENT and LOGISTICS DIVISION"

S.H.I.E.L.D had been founded.
