This story is inspired by a Dungeons & Dragons campaign that myself and a group of friends played. The campaign took place in Humblewood, a world where players play as humanoid forest creatures, such as mice, owls, foxes, and more.
The story follows Coshrit, a 10 year old elf owl Strig barbarian, and Gyllan, a 35 year old wolf Vulpin ranger, as they travel together on their journey through life, both before, during, and after the campaign.

The concrete jungle of Southwestern Ontario hides a deadly secret: human expansion is choking the wild. Led by the telepathic coywolf Artie, a pack of creatures with supernatural powers-including a Virginia opossum, a raven, a pet fennec fox, and a culpeo fox who journeyed from South America-must battle not just for survival, but to protect the voiceless animals threatened by human encroachment.
The threat grows deadlier by the day. As the pack races to save their world, they must outwit not only the encroaching city but also human hunters, relentless and unaware of the extraordinary forces they're up against. One wrong step could spell the end - not just for the pack, but for all the animals they've sworn to protect. Can Artie and his pack fend off humanity's encroachment before it's too late?
In this thrilling adventure of survival, courage, and unity, readers are pulled into a battle for nature itself, where every moment brings the pack closer to danger. Through its fantastical elements, the story seamlessly weaves in the real-world impacts of human activities on the environment, underscoring the urgent need for harmony between progress and nature.
