After her abusive father's death, 8 year old Dani finds herself alone with a group of strangers she doesn't trust. With no one left to tell her what to do, she plans her departure in the dead of night, unsuspecting as she looks for anyone who would try to stop her. 

She should've looked harder.

Daryl Dixon. With no ties to her other than sheer obligation, he convinces her to stay with the group, afterwards of which she becomes nearly attached to his hip. Not wanting some annoying kid as a responsibility, he rejects her company with cold shoulders and harsh words. But no matter how much he tries to shake her off, she still remains in his shadow. 

Will Daryl find a missing piece of himself with Dani? Will Dani get the love she's never received? Will they survive this new and dangerous world together, or will it tear them apart?
