"OH MY GOSH! I CAN SEE THE WATER!!" She squeals, her face almost flat against the window as she stares at the bypassing view in awe.
"Damon look look look!! It's gorgeous!" She points at the waves crashing against the rocks. Her eyes sparkle with curiosity and excitement.
"I've never seen something this beautiful before..." she whispered in a tone that was a mix of sadness and happiness.
"That didn't hurt my feelings at all." I joke to try and lighten up her mood. "I meant besides you." She looks back at me with a playful smirk.
"That's what I thought."
The car filled with the scent of the warm sea breeze as she rolled the window down to stick her head out.
"Damon, listen..."
I could see her close her eyes in the side mirror, her long hair blown back by the wind as she heard the waves crash onto shore.
"The water keeps coming back after it's pushed away...."

I carefully checked the mirrors to make sure she was okay. I didn't have the heart to tell her to sit back down.
"Can we go to the beach? Please?" She turns around and politely asks me while repeatedly tapping my arm. "We're so close, just a quick walk!" Her adorable excitement was hard to resist. But her safety comes first, always.
