He'd gotten pretty good at picking and choosing his battles with her, and he'd won a few of them too, but she was a brazen soldier who didn't dally in the matters of striking once the canons fired.

Trouble at Saddleback Creek
Snakeskin McMurtry was a deadly gunfighter who hated killing. The last thing he wanted was trouble, but trouble always seemed to find him. Whether it was family, promises he had to keep, or posses, he always seemed to end up in a gunfight.
