(Very rough first draft. There are multiple plotholes, inconsistent tense in the first few chapters, inconsistent details, and segments that seemingly were written by another person. A lot of story details, some minor and others major, will be retconned upon a redraft. At first they seems like normal cards, but after a dangerous encounter with bandits, he discovers they're more than just cards, they're conduits of sorts to summon various creatures and he's the only one in the world who can summon them. Now with this new found knowledge of his legacy, Kaelen sets out on a journey to the sorcerer school known as The Eldralis Academy. Armed with his cards and his readiness to learn, he will go through trials and tribulations to uncover secrets to not only his school, but his father as well.

My whole body trembled as I tried to stop the tear that's threatening to fall. I pulled my arm away from his grip not liking the way he held my arm tightly, but very gently. Like he was afraid to hurt me but he didn't want to let go. I shook my head mentally, my feet moving faster, away from the person that destroyed everything I've believed in for. "I'm sorry" I froze mid-step, icy cold sensation travelled to my spine and I can't seem to urge my limbs to move. I know it's dangerous but I ignore him, I keep my eyes shut and continue to rock myself back and forth, my hands blocking my ears. I didn't want to look at him, I didn't want to see those black orbs. "Look at me." He demands, his voice depicting his rage. "No," I whisper. "Look at me or I swear, I will do it!" He shouts. I'm not completely sure what 'it' is but I'm sure it has to do with death. Although the poor kid probably wants exactly that. I want that for him right now. It must be a lot less painful than what he's probably going through. Slowly, I reluctantly remove my hands from my ears and pick up my head from my knees, I open my eyes gazing up at him. As soon as I do - I wish I hadn't. Because as soon as I do Alexander snaps his neck. I gasp, tears sliding down my cheeks even faster than they were before. My mate is a monster. "I told you." He laughs, "I am a monster. Well, except for the betrayal, the lies, the secrets, the people hunting them down and the fact that their aunt is still missing. Together they have to become stronger if they're to stand up against the forces rising up against them. Not everyone is who they appear to be in this contemporary fantasy novel. Will the twins find their aunt? Will they ever return home?
