Meretale, also known as 'A Mere Tale', is an Undertale AU created by me, Ghostly.

One fateful day, a child named Frisk decided to go search for clues about the seven humans who disappeared without a trace upon entering the forest surrounding Mount Ebott. They've constantly heard about the tales of Mount Ebott from grownups but it never really affected them because, after all, they are merely just tales. After hearing about the seven sudden disappearances, Frisk became curious and decided to go check out the mountain themselves in hopes of finding out what actually happened to the others. Almost halfway up the mountain, a massive rainstorm caused Frisk to halt their search and temporarily seek shelter in a cave. A bizarre noise coming from the cave entrance drove Frisk back deeper into the cave until they lost their footing on uneven ground and fell into a black void.

This was how they became the eighth fallen human of the Underground.
