Emery White has hated summer for as long as she could remember. Not being able to go to school meant she was constantly caught between her parents arguments with no escape. That is until her Aunt Olive, who owns an old beach house all the way in Florida needs help fixing it up in order to be able to sell it by the end of August. Emery sees this as a chance to finally get out of her uneasy household and volunteers to help. Never before has Emery ever felt more out of place than when she arrived, Not only does she not know the small town, but she also doesn't know anyone.

Then enters Will, the town's 18 year old attractive and charming lifeguard. Will and Emery meet and don't quite get off on the right foot. However, they must learn how to be civil to each other due to Emery accidentally joining his friend group. As the two get closer, Emery feels like she finally found her rhythm but as she knows, nothing's forever, and losing people can be hard when you finally feel loved.
