Sidney, a high school senior, moves from her home town to London with her mum due to her mum's job. Leaving her friends behind, she struggles to adjust to a new city, school, and social scene. Her new school is a mix of awkward encounters, including introducing herself to a class full of strangers and grappling with feelings of isolation.
Despite her resolve to avoid making new connections, Sidney slowly begins to meet new people. She also has early confrontations with Ava, a popular but abrasive girl who seemingly leads a double life-balancing a glamorous school persona with a part-time job she tries to hide. Sidney stumbles across this secret and faces veiled threats from Ava to keep quiet. This tense dynamic forms the backdrop for a slow shift in their interactions, revealing layers beneath the girl's tough exterior.
Meanwhile, Sidney maintains her ties to her old friends through calls and messages, navigating the emotional distance. At school, Sidney's interactions with her new peers help her adjust to her new environment. Her budding friendship with some of her classmates provides a foundation for deeper connections.
