For many, the life of a young and noble lady in the kingdom of Arlatov is one they'd probably kill for. But Valentina isn't one of those people. Nevertheless, she's been born into such a life, and now she's forced to do things she doesn't want to do out of the duty that comes with the title and power. She didn't ask for it. She was just told to do it. So now she's promised to the most eligible bachelor in the country in order to save her family name and honour. And she's trapped. A prisoner in her own life. When Misha walks into her life, he turns her metaphorical shackles into real ones. But he doesn't realise that, in the process of making her a prisoner, he has freed her from her cageless prison. She doesn't conform to a life as a pirate's prisoner, but she is also smart enough to see an opportunity in her circumstances. However, what happens when her feelings, ones she was never truly allowed to let loose, jumble her mind and plans? Could she forsake her family and her duty, all she's ever known? And if so, what could she do? Become a pirate, like her captor? Since when do ladies become bandits?

She decides to spare him, telling him her life story and seeing if maybe she can change his mind. But if John and Alex can have any hope of working together they need to realise they're not so different...and quite possibly made for each other. set in Pre-Thunderbolts*, Thunderbolts* and Beyond
