Writing helps feelings escape when words and actions do not work or are not an option. When you wish someone will just happen upon this story and sympathize with you. The comfort of knowing maybe someone knows how you feel. But that's not the point. That is not what makes us think it is a good idea. We all want someone- anyone to know. Even a complete stranger. When they ask you what is wrong it feels the same if not a little less like if a close friend asked. We as humans find condolence. Solace. Attention.
