The Protector

Emily was about 16 years old when she got her first job. Emily lived in the small town of Baltimore in Ohio. Her job was in the bigger town over, Lancaster. She was a cashier at Walmart. She had to work Valentine’s Day and she had to work the late shift. On her way home, she decided to stop and get a large sweet tea. On her way home, she saw a guy swerving all over the road. She slowly pressed the breaks as she got to the hill. On either side of the hill were huge rock walls. The guy continued to swerve then headed right for Emily's car. She screamed and threw her hands up in a panicky wave to somehow block herself from impact.
When the paramedics arrived at the scene, they were shocked to find Emily alive and not hurt in the shred of the two cars. The other driver was killed instantly.
When James returned back to hell, Isaiah Chevalier, the Devil, was outraged with the news of him saving the girl. "If you want to be a guardian, fly back to earth where you are sure to die in the human’s filth. Just know that everyone dies and no one goes to heaven," he said to James. James was banished back to earth. At first James hated the experience, but then he grew used to it. He enrolled at Liberty Union High School in search of Emily. He finally found her and made his move.
After a few months of dating he finally told her all about the angels, dragons, wolfs and vampires that rule the underworld. She didn't believe him at first but grew used to it after a while.
When Isaiah finds out that she knows the underworlds secrets, he is even more outraged. He gathers his strongest dragons, wolfs, vampires and angels and prepares them for battle. "Kill them both," he says before they leave.
With the ability to blend in, Emily and James don't know who is who. He tells her, "don't worry, I will protect you. I am your protector."
