Miasma

Miasma: in Greek mythology, it is an infectious force that is autonomous. It is tied to the earth by ill-got deeds and cannot be removed unless the forbearer of such deeds is dead.

Being a parent is scary. Being an expectant parent is scarier. Being an expectant parent while your partner is imprisoned and the entire world is falling to shambles is probably the literal definition of hell.
