Big Skye

Skye is a 12-year-old girl living with an alcoholic mother and struggling to take care of her younger brother and herself. When they face eviction from their apartment, Skye gives up. What's the point of trying to get good grades at school, and getting your little brother to his soccer practices on time, if you don't even have enough to eat or a place to live? When her mother sees Skye hit bottom, in a rare act of parenting, she makes a phone call that changes their lives forever. They board an airplane and find themselves dropped in the middle of nowhere: Lemmon, South Dakota, population 1,200. A tiny town bordering the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. It's home to Skye's grandparents, uncle, and cousins, whom she has never met. As she struggles to find her place in this a family, she also begins to untangle the web of her mother's life and uncover the mystery of the disappearing Charlie Linxten.
