Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, two high school girls who thought they couldn't have been more different, cross paths by chance one afternoon at their school's talent show auditions after years of only having brief interactions at school. The musical talents they each display at the auditions unlocks a bond between the now iconic duo, leading to an unexpected friendship that blossoms over and over again, guiding them down paths they never could have dreamt of discovering alone. The girls ultimately decide to join forces, forming the alternative pop/experimental band they call "t.A.T.u".
As their bond deepens over a year, news arrives of a renowned producer (Ivan Shapovalov) joining the panel of judges for the girls second year competing in the school talent show together. The winners are promised a contract with his label, aligning perfectly with Yulia and Lena's goals. Will victory be theirs, or will their sneaky school bully, Angeline, concoct yet another scheme to undermine their happiness?

Annabeth Reed had simple goals in her life, graduate at the top of her class, get a nice boyfriend and mostly win the scholarship to her dream art school. She had everything she could wish for a set of supportive parents, an annoying but lovable older brother, and two amazing best friends, but her life would have been so much better if not for her.
Emmalyn Cole also known as the school's sweetheart was the exact opposite. She was bright, loud and the absolute center of Rosewood High. Being the daughter of a self-made businesswoman and a famous pianist, she knew she was destined for greatness, but in sophomore year when she was publicly dumped by her boyfriend for her sister, she felt her friends and life slipping away. Junior year she knew that the scholarship to the art school her sister wanted would be her saving grace. She would easily get in if not for her.
