"I noticed everything, I just acted like i didn't."

Hogwarts was boring. Sure, you were the top student in your year, but classes were ridiculously easy. Seriously, how hard was it to wave a stick and mutter some gibberish? By first year, you were already casting spells wandlessly.

Now, as a fifth year, you'd resorted to entertaining yourself with side projects, like helping the Weasley twins perfect their joke candies. They'd written to you over the summer about their latest questionable candy experiments, and you-out of sheer boredom helped refine their ideas. As a reward, they invited you to the Quidditch World Cup.

That was the start of your problems. What began as harmless fun with the Weasley twins took a sharp turn when Cedric Diggory seemed intent on getting to know you. Not to mention Harry Potter and his friends dragging you into their chaos. But while they only see the immediate danger of what was in front of them, you sensed something darker lurking, danger only you could see coming.

RIGHT Weeks before Valentine's, seventeen-year-old Kate Lapuz goes through her first ever breakup, but soon she stumbles upon a mysterious new app called My Dream Boyfriend, an AI chatbot that has the ability to understand human feelings. Casually, she participates in the app's trial run but finds herself immersed in the empathic conversations with her customizable virtual boyfriend, Ecto. In a society both connected and alienated by technology, Kate suspects an actual secret admirer is behind Ecto. Could it be the work of the techie student council president Dion or has Kate really found her soulmate in bits of computer code? She decides to get to the bottom of the cutting-edge app. Her search for Ecto's real identity leads Kate to prom, where absolute knowledge comes with a very steep price.
