Hayden Cross knows exactly what he wants. Back from a summer marching DCI, he's craving a well-deserved national win for his band. The Lovell High Marching Knights have been consistently second place in the region since his freshman year, losing by fractions of points to the ever-annoying Merrimack Valley Fightin' Titans. This year they are determined to win, even if it means breaking a few small, insignificant rules. So, Hayden and a few other section leaders sneak into Valley's first home game to spy on their band. It was all going to plan....until they got spotted five minutes in and left Hayden to fend for himself against some really angry Titans.
Cameron Miller just wanted a normal year. Fresh off a summer DCI tour with the most annoying percussionist he's ever met, he's ready to enjoy and excel in the Class 1 marching band he loves dearly. He really should have just let the trumpets knock Hayden's lights out. Instead, he dismounted his drum, jumped into Hayden's arms, and kissed him. It was the first thing he thought of, don't blame him! But it was enough to get the band off Hayden's back and gave Valley an in to spy on Lovell, at least according to Cam's brother.
But when a fake relationship turns too real, will Cam and Hayden let their fears tear them apart? Or will they find their own true meaning despite their uncertain beginning? Pax is a fifteen year old (rising junior) with no sense of self love and also with a shitty family. He grew up in a world where he hadn't heard a lot of things even existed, like anything in the LGBT spectrum, and he'd grown up in churches that exiled the word "gay". In sixth grade, everything finally clicked. He was transgender. Just because he realized it, though, didn't mean his entire life would become perfect. From the time he was twelve on, he was sick and confused and altogether terrified of what he's become. After he came out to all of friends, most of them ditched him until his only friends were the school's gay power couple and a nonbinary internet friend he'd never even talked to in real life, and only them to help him and figure out everything that needs figuring out. In this coming-out story, I delve basically into what was my young teenage years - so I included quite a lot of things I went through. Some triggers this might include are: -transphobia -homophobia -vague references to self harm -suicidal thoughts & actions -SPOILER: Pax is kicked out at some point; I'd suggest that you don't read it if you're not comfortable with that because that's the climax. 600 reads?? 100 votes??? "I walked over to where Aaron was sitting on the ground, kneeling so that I was face-to-face with him. He was wearing a blank expression on his face so I guess he didn't really care if I kissed him or not. I took in a deep breath before taking his face in both of my hands and swooping down to kiss him. At first, I was so nervous I didn't realize that we were already kissing but after a few moments, I realized how soft his lips felt on my own. Before I can register it I felt him moving against me. She was the most beautiful girl you will ever meet. Kind, sweet, and one of the few people with a higher GPA then him, she was amazing and Aiden imagined that she would be all his. Once Aiden gets rid of her boyfriend, Aaron Tyler. The most annoying guy you will ever meet, Aiden gags just thinking about him. The man is smoking hot and makes Aiden's dreams of getting the girl to seem very impossible. So what would happen if Aiden gets involved with the wrong person? Will Aiden get the girl? Training Camp Compromise
Nathan Baker hates Julian Cruz. He hates his snarky attitude, he hates how overly confident he is, but most of all--he hates how good he is at football. He hates how stupid Roosevelt High school took home the championship trophy and the way the stupid rival team picked up his stupid rival, chanted his stupid name while he looked at Nathan with a stupid grin. Yep, Nathan hates him. But this year is his year. He's the captain of the Cortland Foxes football team, he's the starting quarterback, and he finally is back on good terms with his on and off girlfriend, Veronica. Senior year is the year. That is until on the first day of training the coach introduces someone who, in fact, does not need an introduction and Nathan almost explodes with anger on the spot. The feeling of hatred is very much mutual for Julian Cruz. He hates Nathan Baker with every fiber in his body. He hates his Hollywood attitude, he hates how rich he is, but greater than all--he hates how good he is at football. Sure, Julian had made the lucky catch and managed to make the final touchdown of the championship game and win, sure, he was praised as a God for the rest of that school year and got scouted by a couple college coaches. But none of that matters now that he and his Mom have gotten kicked out from their apartment and the only place they could find is too far to continue his laid-back life at Roosevelt High.
