After Shiro goes missing on a past mission his connection with the black lion is gone. He's dead. Everyone is devastated because of this but Keith is absolutely destroyed. Without long to mourn, it's time for the black lion to choose a new pilot and to Keith's dismay he's chosen. This angers Lance and fills him with jealousy in which causes Lance to lash out at him using one of Keith's discovered insecurities against him.
