Caroline's family runs deep in science and education. She has no time for dating anymore. Her boyfriends have been disappointments. Biology comes first, then relationships. Her parents met when they were in college. She's not interested in soulmates right now. The last thing Cameron wants is to be like his dad. It's what he heard his entire life: you are just like your dad in every way. The only good thing about his father is his looks and brains. His father has arranged and organized his entire life from birth, relationships, and school. Anytime Cameron and Caroline interact, there is a combustible conversation. A rivalry that has spanned since middle school. Like Murphy's law: anything that can happen will happen. They don't agree on anything. It's better when they are not around each other. The universe has other ways to continue bringing them together. She's bossy, he's arrogant. The last time they worked together, it involved the power shower. Being partners for a semester project, which counts for 50% of their grade, Caroline and Cameron will make it possible even if it means another chemical burn.

Their fathers are business partners, collaborating on an integrated school to keep the things they want to protect the most, from getting too suspicious. Even if it means putting them closer to the danger. Of course since their parents run the place, they're going to be the face of the set up. Therefore the two have no choice but to interact with one another. But she's adopted and human, and just as oblivious as the outsiders. But him? He's not so human. And try as she might to refuse him, she can't help herself and he ends up bringing out something in her that's not so human.
