W świecie zdominowanym przez autorytaryzmy lub demokracje tylko z nazwy, jedno państwo wyróżnia się swą polityką. To Zakrandia, twór uznany za "totalitaryzm demokratyczny", w którym rządzi jedna partia dominująca społeczeństwo, lecz to obywatele wybierają swego "dyktatora" i resztę sceny politycznej. Wszystko odbywa się w zasadach demokratycznych, uznawanych za lepsze niż nawet w Stanach Zjednoczonych. I tak trzech młodych studentów wkracza w ten świat, chcąc go zmieniać na lepsze, lecz dookoła wszyscy ich traktują jak zbrodniarzy i autokratów, którymi nie chcą być. Spotykają więc tytułowy system.

I whine and beg my mother at the same time to let me stay home. What was I thinking? My mom has an image to uphold being this perfect mother who loves and cares about her little baby girl. Before she could process what was happening, Arjun tore her dress in one swift motion and threw it aside. Siya was completely shocked, but when she realized she was left only in her underwear, she quickly tried to cover herself, but Arjun didn't give her a chance. He locked her hands again and began attacking her neck with frenzied aggression, biting and sucking, breaking the skin and drawing blood. "Arjun, please let me go! What are you doing?
