Melody (Mel) Chambers and her brother Lucas (Luke) had a difficult childhood. Their mother, who constantly drank, and made them feel unsafe at home, left after their father, who was the most incredible father a kid could ask for died. She left a then 15-year-old Melody to care for her then 4 year old brother. Now, Mel at 17 and Luke at 6, They've opened their home to kids in their neighborhood to stay when they're going through rough times with their families, similar to Mel and Luke.
