When you think your life is ending you might believe that time slows down but from Regulus' experience it doesn't. For him, it wasn't as if time had stopped or that it was suddenly slow, it was more actually that it had gone quicker.
He should scream but his voice was trapped by the fear of the monster. There was a door with the light of the outside world. He could run but it could easily catch him. He was a hundred pounds heavier, he was in the way.
The creature towered over him. It was on the other side of the room but it moved fast. Faster than a hyena. Its mouth was wide over with cutthroat fangs that had been getting closer and closer to his neck.
