"Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?

The landscape of open grassland was singular and repetitive and it gave you a sense of waiting, of waiting to pass through it until you got to where you were going. In such an atmosphere, no one was in the mood to start a conversation. Talking was reserved for situations that necessitated it. Everyone rode with their eyes fixed on the horizon. The one thing of note was that Dawson was back in his saddle. He refused to stay in the stretcher beyond the first day and said that any discomfort in the saddle would be nothing compared to being bounced along behind a flatulating horse. That had brought a smile to even the captain.

He said in a deep low voice, almost a growl, and his eyes seemed to have gotten darker. 'What the hell is that supposed to mean?!' I tried taking a step back but his grip on my arm tightened. It hurt. "L-let me go, you, you're hurting me!" I looked up at him scared, his eyes were now completely dark, and the next thing I noticed were pointed teeth poking out from his lips. I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance. And ran. ~~~ Nora Brown, is a normal adult, living a normal life. Moving away from home to start fresh and meet new people. Just going where life takes her. Who knew that just one short encounter at work with a god-like man, would flip her life entirely upside down, and nothing would ever be the same again. So much for normal.
