After moving to a new town in the summer, Avery Wilson is encouraged to make new friends and get good grades for her senior year. Only problem is, she's never been good at talking to people. When her mother makes her go on a date with the nice boy from church, Avery starts to learn new things about herself and how to interact with others at her new school.
The fear of losing her mother's approval sets her on a journey for growth, self-love and acceptance. Even with the self discovery, Avery struggles with understanding the real meaning of getting over her trauma with the help of the first friend she makes on her own: Maya.
