Spider-Man and Iron Man belong together, everyone knows that. It's no surprise that the citizens of New York have expectations, then. They expect him to take on the mantle, now that Mr. Stark is retired for good. And he can handle that.
Peter Parker and Tony Stark somehow also belong together, but nobody knows that. There are no expectations, he can be free when he is with Mr. Stark.
