FOR FANS OF 'HEARTSTOPPER' AND 'THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY'
Wells Gentry has two loves: surfing and his father's surf shop along the California coast. There's hardly room enough for his friends, who he can feel pulling away from him thanks to his ex, who's also in his friend group (talk about awkward), let alone another guy. This is further exasperated when Wells learns that the surf shop is one bad day away from closing.
Brett Manning feels like he peaked when he was seven. A former child star, Brett's staring in a teen rom-com that promises to be the movie of the summer. However, all he wants is a shot at a normal life, and specifically, a shot at going to a public high school. That's not going to happen, though, not with his moms breathing down his neck.
When Brett's new movie starts filming at the surf shop, disrupting business, Brett couldn't be more peeved, and he makes it his mission to hate the other boy, no matter how many places Brett seems to pop up. And no matter how cute he finds the teen heartthrob. However, sparks fly when the producers offer Wells's father more money if Wells teaches Brett how to surf. Is Wells too busy to open his heart? And even if he does, Brett wonders if a normal teenage relationship is even possible for someone like him. Besides, he's straight... right?
