Ser Aerion Waters, bastard son of King Viserys Targaryen before his ascension to the throne, was named a Targaryen on his second nameday - coinciding with the birth of Visery's trueborn daughter Rhaenyra. The pair were inseparable as children, but their happiness together wouldn't last. Displeased by the presence of a bastard at court, Lord Otto Hightower, the King's closest advisor, begun to plot a way to remove Aerion from court - and when the Iron Islands rose up in rebellion shortly after his fourteenth nameday, the Hand persuaded Viserys to send Aerion to act in the King's name and restore the Iron Islands to their loyalties towards the Crown.
