Summer Evans was tired of her boring life in America. She was tired of her parents high expectations and rules. During the summer between her junior and senior year, Summer's best friend, Ava, plans a trip to Australia for them to escape their lives in America and relax for once. One day at a cafe, the girls and their friends meet a friendly, mysterious guy named Calum. Calum and Summer become close, but with secrets and pain of the past, will it ever work out? When Calum joins a band and they go out of the country for a performance will everything change? It's crazy how just a few missing messages can change so much. It's crazy how much one person can hide and bottle up.

When Calum Hood arrives in his new secondary school in the UK, he's completely clueless. He's already had someone hate him on the first day, Adelaide, a girl he'd just met and was appointed to guide him around the school. But things meet a turnaround when Adelaide seeks his help, something he wasn't expecting but friendly enough to accept. But in the process, Calum accidentally catches feelings for Adelaide, but is too scared to admit it. On the other hand, Adelaide is in a whirlwind, trapped by both her problems and her feelings starting to develop for Calum. Will they both find their way out to the light, or will the strained friendship be left in the dark?
