dragons are powerful creatures but rouge dragons are dangerous with their power, they use for destruction, they ravage villages and leave a trail of ruin and death wherever they go. 
dragons need riders, riders have the final say whether to save the village or if its too late, if a dragon has a good hearted rider they will be remembered for their good heart. some dragons hatch because they sense someone with a good heart is near but other dragons just hatch and become obsessed with fire and gold, they have so much rage to release.
...dragon riders need to get rid of the rouge dragons, they are reckless and they are threats...dragon riders need to get rid of those threats...

Summary; Kollbaine is fleeing into the frozen north flying as fast as he can away from his own pursuer, when he sees a small moving speck in the distance of a frozen wasteland. There are too many wolves in these parts, and no people. Even as he watches and strains his eyes he sees the need to pour out as much speed as he and Howl can muster. There's a girl ahead surrounded by a pack of wolves, and she's about to be eaten. If they can only make it in time! But he and Howl are both already exhausted and wounded. They are also still being pursued themselves by another enemy rider and his dragon. What will happen when his pursuer catches up?

Even when growing up, Elia didn't fit in with the other girls. They would dress up in dresses. She wore cloaks. They would cook and sew. She would throw knives. They liked boys. She liked bows. Each village has 4 new dragon riders, this is the way it has been for years. Male or female they are claimed and tested to find the four riders a week after. The challenge for the dragon riders in the Week of Xanithar is to claim as many strong blooded villages as possible. And now it's her turn.
