Roe is a cutpurse, a pick pocket, a thief. He is not well known because he moves from town to town without notice, his luck is bad, and his future seems worse.

The first has abandoned Kedan. It saw how the mortals have treated his gift to them. They had not learned from his lords of past. They can not work in harmony.

The lords have not given up yet. For years, they have been searching for the eight. Mortals they choose to reform in their own eye, and they complete tasks, showing once again that there is hope for the first's world. Becoming one of the Eight is a honor, and a great privilege. Their life is more important than a king's.

A spot in the eight has been opened. One was false. Without eight, there is nothing, and the first is shown one more display of how dishonest it's world has become. The spot must be filled.

But that is out of anyone's hands, and the lady of betrayal chooses for herself who will serve her.

To the world it was a forbidden love but to them it was the beautiful comfort they could ever find in each other. This book is about a love that developed between two hearts when they never planned for it. With a pinch of reality and fiction it's a love story between a 20 year old boy and 22 year old girl. He was reserved with his words while she was expressive. He was a mature person while she was a little kid to him. She was ready to fight the world but he was confused.
