Before Peter, Miguel had believed he was not meant to keep anything or anyone he was given. From losing his beautiful and talented daughter to losing his "perfect Peter", Miguel's life had never seemed to be heading in the right direction. He was tormented day in and day out with an overdriving fear that lapped at each and every one of Miguel un-ironed creases. The mere raw and breathing anxiety that came with the idea of those around him being taken from him, scared him oh so very deeply. 
    So, he shut himself away. 
    
    EVENTUALLY Miguel and Peter B end up adopting Hobie and Pavitr :)
