China is a young boy when his father, Qing Dynasty, goes into hiding, afraid of being targeted by the KuoMingTang. In their "Human" form China and his siblings, Outer Mongolia, Mengjiang, Thailand, Tibet, and Taiwan use their disguise to blend in with normal Asian children.
Korea is split into two representatives. The Communist side they call North, and the Capitalist part they call the South. South Korea has been 'ported' to America to earn a scholarship in health science, while his younger brother, North Korea, has been 'ported' to China to get him 'as far away and safe from the capitalists as possible'.
The young representative of the newly communist Russia is also transported to China but to for 'school'.
When the three meet, they are inseparable until they are forced apart by death.
