There was no way, not in any of the Three Rims, that any of this could be counted as real.
Not the two pillows placed carefully under his head, or the equal number of blankets placed just so over his emaciated body to keep the shivers at bay. THEY would never have allowed these things to slip past THEIR watch, because THEY frowned upon any victim of THEIRS being granted even the slightest amount of comfort in the midst of their own suffering.
And if anyone else knew who he really was, they would have thrown him out into the cold without so much as a backward glance...
