In the dystopian world of Fairfolke, no one is truly free. The land of fairytales becomes something much darker when a tyrannical High King comes into power, enforcing a strict caste system that divides the people of Fairfolke into three castes: Heroes, Peasants, and Villains. 

Moira Queenston never wanted to hurt anybody. The orphan daughter of two Peasants, all she hoped for was a simple life with her only friend, fellow orphan Peter. But everything Moira thought she knew changes when she finds herself declared a Villain and forced into a preparatory school built on hatred and fear. 

Now, Moira must learn to reconcile her own conscience with the choices before her, her only contact with Peter -- who was declared a Hero -- through the lens of her magic mirror.
