After all her mother was never single she had a fiance that Sydney didn't know about her mother was mistreated the whole time she just didn't want Sydney to know. Later on Chris(mother's fiance) moved in with Sydney and Keasha(Mom). Sydney was being beat and hit by the stepfather and the mom didn't want to believe it.
