Kayla McHeartly used to be a social person. She used to talk with all those around her, and treat everyone with the same respect she gives her best friends. She used to hang out at parties and have a blast just like everyone around her. But recently, she hasn't been able to stomach those types of events. After all, she had just lost her best friend, Johna Gilberts, to a car crash. Worst of all, she knows exactly how it went down and the memory torments her daily. Now she's just trying to get through high school in one piece. Then, one day, she chooses to forget about her past, tells her family she wants to move out, to try and mend her life before it breaks apart again.
This is the story of a girl coping with the loss of a friend that didn't have to happen.
