Giovanni, or Gio, is a 21-year old human with a more cynical outlook on things who has just gotten a vacation to Diamond Beach for the summer. After spending his whole life in Wickery Cliffs, it's no wonder he'd be interested in exploring further out, especially for a vacation.

Meanwhile, Sunny is a 20-year-old mer-person with an optimistic outlook on life who happens to be a native of Diamond Beach. Since he's lived there - and in the sea - for his entire life, he prefers to stick to the beach and it's waters. Even if he does like to visit Sunset Island, just to watch the daily pageants take place.

On the first day of his vacation to the beach, Gio ends up meeting Sunny, by pure luck.

Are the two practical opposites destined to find something else in eachother that nobody else seems to "get"? Or will they part ways soon after meeting?
