"Do you remember what I said yesterday?"
My voice cut through the eerie silence that oscillated between the old oak bookshelves. His hands, on either side of my waist, drew patterns that erupted goosebumps and made every hair on my body stand.
An amused smile formed on his face, lifting the last crumbs of tension from earlier. His hot breath reached my ears before his words could, making a shiver run from the tip of my fingers.
"You told me to kiss you, and, oh wait, I also remember you were drunk enough to drown yourself in a pool."
Narrowing my eyes for a split second, I looked into his eyes. His gaze drifted from my eyes to my lips, and I felt him suck in a breath.
"Guess what? I'm not drunk anymore."
"Madhumida, don't play with me right now, darling."
There was a warning in his voice, wrapped in a gold foil of vulnerability, as if he was on the last string of his patience, yet his eyes remained the same, like melted caramel, my newfound obsession.
I placed a soft kiss on the tip of his nose.
"Kiss me, Agastya. Let me burn with you."
