OLIVIA MURPHY needs a fresh start. With her father in prison for a crime he claims he didn't commit and everyone at her old station acting like she aided and abetted, Liv can think of nothing better than getting the hell out of Philadelphia, and Los Angeles is calling her name. She's paired with an LAPD legend, Sergeant Athena Grant, a no-nonsense field sergeant who has only ever had one partner before and isn't happy to gain a mouthy twenty-eight year old as her next. She's sure Athena hates her and will do anything to get her out of her hair, even setting her up with a vulnerable widower in her new husband's firefighting station. The last thing Liv wants in L.A. is a new boyfriend to inevitably let her down, but damn, he's got a great ass- and what's a little bit of fun?
EDDIE DIAZ needs a fresher start. Only a few months after his soon-to-be ex-wife's death and his family is still reeling. Eddie and Shannon were a thing of the past; they had reconciled any bad feelings and realized their love for each other was platonic years ago, and even though he didn't love her like he thought he did, his son still lost her mother. He isn't looking to date anyone- but Athena's new partner makes his heart race, and he needs a new outlet.
When a tsunami and a lost son sets their paths on a collision course, Liv and Eddie find themselves asking- how casual can they really be?

After escaping a bad relationship, Amelia Buckley was left with an overwhelming amount of emotions. She was scared, relieved, and alone all at once. She hadn't spoken to her parents in years and hadn't seen her brother or sister in a long time either. She got a job as a bar tender in a bar on the wrong side of the tracks in Boston, Massachusetts. She hated it, but it was the only place where she thought her ex wouldn't find her; but she was wrong. He broke into her apartment - that was above the bar - one night and assaulted her. The next day, she got a call from her brother asking her to join him in LA, and she said yes without hesitation. She packed up her things and fled in the middle of the night with her daughter after the bar had closed so that nobody would see her. A short flight later, she landed in Los Angeles, California, and was reunited with her brother after years of not seeing each other in person. The 118 respond to a call for a house fire, and rescue five victims from inside of the house. When one of the victims is admitted to the hospital unconscious, the doctors and nurses that were on her case, realize that she has more problems that simply burns and smoke inhiliation. The authorities are called, and eventually Sargent Athena Grant arrives for statements and evidence. When Athena enters the victim's room, she noticed exactly who was laying in the bed unconscious. This girl was the daughter of one of her high school best friend. The girl had gone missing eight years ago, when she was only twelve years old. Her mother was desperate, and though she hadn't seen Athena since they had graduated high school, she went to the one person that would help her find her daughter. Athena did everything in her ability, but the case went cold, and no more leads came in. Her case was put on a back burner, for everyone else, except for Athena. Four years ago, Athena's high school friend passed away, some would say from a heart attack, but Athena believed it was a broken heart. Since the woman had passed away, that left nobody looking for the girl, other than Athena. With nobody left, that meant the girl had no family to go to once she was released. Not only did Athena need answers as to what happened to the girl eight years ago, as well as what happened all the years she was away, but she also had to give the girl a place to stay. It may not have been something anyone else would do, but Athena had a heart of gold, and no child, even if they were grown, should deal with everything this girl had gone through alone...Completa
