Dit boek gaat over Bella Swan. Ze is 17 jaar en ze woont nog maar pas bij haar vader Charlie Swan. Haar vader woont in Forks. Als Bella samen met haar nieuwe vriendinnen gaat shoppen. Gaat ze naar een boekenwinkel. Haar vriendinnen Jessica en Angela zijn in een kledingswinkel. Bella was alleen in een boekenwinkel met de oude verkoopster. De vrouw lijkt aardig maar dat is niet zo. Als Bella een paar boeken heeft en wilt betalen komt er een jongen binnen. De vrouw bevriesd de deur en het slot. Dan spreekt de oude vrouw een spreuk uit. Die spreuk zorgt ervoor dat Bella voor moeilijke beslissingen staat en dat haar hart bevroren word totdat ze haar ware liefde vindt. Maar wat als ze moet kiezen tussen 2 jongens. En als ze op de verkeerde verliefd word?

He killed for his food, but he also simply liked the fight that everyone put up before they died. It was fun, but when he entered Forks, something was different. She and Laurent were both curious, but Victoria quickly became jealous, especially once they figured out where the scent was coming from. The scent was a human, and the human was James's mate.
