Workings of a Curse

We are often told how the heavens pour and the thunder rumbles. Curses are swift like Lightening and retribution is instant...or is it? Curses don't turn you into a toad instantly. It is slow. Painful. Starting with welts on the skin, an allergy to the sun, a preference to dark, dank corners, webbed fingers, till you cannot take it anymore. You lose your family, friends, social contacts and become a pariah long before you become the frog.
