Assassin's obsession

In the eerie darkness of the hallway, I strain my ears to hear the sound of footsteps drawing nearer. Amidst the silence, a familiar voice utters, "You are the reason I breath, my angel."

Curiosity compels me to face the source of the voice. I look back to see who is speaking to me, but all I see is darkness. Then, the voice spoke again, clearer than before.

"You are the reason for every breath I take," The voice says as I remain motionless.

Unease consumes me as I question whether the voice could truly belong to the person I have in mind.
