Solstice

Centuries after an apocalypse plagued and destroyed most of the planet and billions of human lives, a small tribe survived, and made refuge deep within the caves of Babylon. The four horsemen sent to spread carnage and plant the seeds of evil in humankind eventually retired, yet the fear they instilled in their malevolence has clung to the air like a thick smoke. The sun is an enemy, as is most of nature.

Each year, the Akai tribe hosts a ceremony, in which the Hunters are permitted to leave their homes and scavenge a broken world for food, supplies, and other findings. This year feels different, at least to a young woman, Malia Forrester. The hunt is a perilous task that has resulted in the death of many loved ones, and this year Kai, her twin brother will be participating. Malia is visited by a darkness that she finds eager to explore. Although her duty is to her family, she does not allow fear to cloud her curiosity. She is determined to leave the life she has always known, and to follow the voice that haunts her nightmares. To do this, she must hurt the people she cares for the most, including her brother. Yet, when she finds the answers she seeks, it is not what she expects. Malia must decide if the truth is worth destroying everything her ancestors fought so hard to protect.
