Her mother was the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, she was killed when Taylor was a year old, Mikael had found her and killed her before Klaus even had the chance to save her
He didn't know about his granddaughter until 2012 when he came to Mystic Falls to remove his curse but when he found her he saw how Stefan and Damon put Elena over her everytime
