Sharlet lives in a "peaceful" world, if you ignore the corporations that keep getting bigger, the worldwide famine that just ended last year,
the dwindling number of countries caused by the colonization of bigger countries pushed by these corporations, and the increasing amount of pollution in the air.
In this terrible world, Sharlet is approached by an angel-like being and offered a free all-inclusive trip to another world.
What, the other world is filled with dangerous beings? It has less supplies than my last world?
That's ok with my game-like abilities I can create an overpowered fortress and go into retirement at 16.
